Welcome to Troop 138 of Naugatuck, CT!

We warmly welcome your interest and hope this website can answer many of your questions about Boy Scouting as well as illustrate the positive energy we have here at Troop 138.  If you are new to Scouting or are advancing from a Cub Scout Pack and looking to visit or  interview Boy Scout Troops, everyone in our Troop 138 family is always willing to answer your questions or show you around.  This includes our Boy Scouts, parents, Troop Committee, Merit Badge Counselors, Assistant Scoutmasters, and Scoutmaster.  All interested youths and their family all welcome to attend any meeting at any time and experience the family-oriented culture we cultivate and are proud of here at Troop 138.

Boys are eligible to enjoy their Boy Scout journey between the ages of 11 and 18.  The highest BSA rank is the Eagle Scout and this must be achieved no later than a Boy Scout's 18th birthday.  Troop 138 has proudly seen 28 of our Scouts earn the rank of Eagle Scout.  While an Eagle rank has many personal benefits throughout the course of a lifetime, there is much to gain from the Boy Scout journey itself.  Scouting offers and provides lasting life skills and friendships, leadership skills, community and diversity appreciation, adventure, development of interests and skills, strengthening of families, recognition of our duty to God and our country, an opportunity to spend a good part of the growing years in an all-around positive place ... and so much more.  It will encourage our boys in all the right ways through good role models, reinforcing positive qualities of character and creating a sense of belonging.

Enjoy your visit to our website and we hope to see you soon!  Related Links:  ABOUT US and 138 PARENTS and 138 EAGLE SCOUTS.

Hiking merit Badge

Posted on Jun 11 2017 - 7:18am

Camping Merit Badge is an Eagle required merit badge, and offered at most all summer camps. One common issue is that most scouts end up with a 'Partial' due to not being able to complete all of the requirements at camp. The main missing requirement is completing a 10-mile hike that elevates 1000 feet.

In CT, one of the only spots to accomplish this is on the Appalachian Trail (AT) at the Bull's Bridge trailhead. I am offering a day hike to that area to fulfill that requirement before we go to camp so scouts can complete Camping Merit Badge by the end of their summer camp week.

What: 10-mile Day Hike

When:   Saturday, July 15th, 9am to 3pm

Where: AT Bull's Bridge, Kent CT

Why: to complete missing requirement for Camping Merit Badge

Meeting Place: to be determined based 1-week before

How to Enroll: I will send out a permission slip 2 weeks before the hike

This will likely be the 'launch hike' for Hiking Merit Badge as well, stretching from July to December over 6 hikes. Scouts can use this 1st hike for Hiking as well as camping :)

Welcome to our new scouts !

Posted on Mar 11 2017 - 8:03pm

Over the last few weeks we have had a total of seven new scouts join us!  Some have joined us from Pack 2010 in Beacon Falls and some from Pack 109 in Naugatuck. We will also be welcoming a new scout from Pack 27 of Prospect in April. Please help me by welcoming both scouts and their parents to our troop.
